- What is time and a half?
- Time and a half means each overtime hour is paid at 1.5× the normal rate. At $20/hour, an overtime hour pays $30. Some rules use double time (2×) past a further threshold.
- When does overtime apply?
- Under US federal law, past 40 hours in a week. Some US states (and many countries) also require overtime past a daily limit, or a higher multiplier — check your local rules.
- Does this account for my state's rules?
- It uses the multiplier you pick and a weekly view. For daily overtime, split the day's regular and overtime hours yourself. When in doubt, follow the stricter of federal and local law.
