Device binding

Device binding ties a user's credential to a specific physical device, so the credential only works from that device and cannot be used elsewhere.

In context

In time tracking, device binding raises the bar against shared credentials and impersonation. A PIN or token that is also tied to a registered device cannot simply be read out and used by someone else on another phone. It is a lighter-weight alternative to biometrics that still links a punch to an individual, which matters in settings where fingerprint or face capture is unwelcome or legally fraught.

How BriefQR relates

BriefQR binds each operator's PIN to their device, so a punch can only originate from that operator's registered phone, preventing shared logins without collecting any biometric data.
